迷い

Takkun, if you end up reading this, well, yes. I suppose I've become rather obsessed with Mayoi in the past few days. XD

This is a journal in which I will attempt to explain a strange phenomenon that happened to a friend and I.

I must warn you that this contains events that you will probably shun off as "Coincidental" or simply of natural occurance, but I must ask you to take this with an open mind...

This all happened on youtube, about three weeks ago.

One day, whilst talking to a friend on AIM, I was searching through Youtube and found a strange looking video. Its preview image was the "Lost" picture, visible in my gallery at the moment.
Now, I must explain at this point, I share a youtube account, "BobandTakkun" between myself and my friend, Takkun. We put up videos of me playing piano, nothing else yet.
Sooo, upon finding of this strange video, I looked at the username of the uploader, and to my surprise, it was uploaded by BobandTakkun!
I IM'd Takkun asking if he had uploaded a video recently. He said no, he had not even logged onto our account for about a month. Checking our profile, I confirmed this... however the video was uploaded to our account only two days earlier.
Interested, I watched the video.
It was called "迷い" or "Mayoi" (meaning "Lost") and had about 40 views. Interestingly, the description of the video was in japanese. It read:

少し不気味なピアノピースw
題名は迷いw

Translation:

A wierd little piano piece.
Title is Lost.

I realized, with a chill, that the video was nothing but the "Lost" picture zooming in, very slowly, to the tree trunk on the left in the foreground. Upon turning up my speakers I realized that there was in fact, piano music in the background.
The music was extremely disturbing to me, as it spoke to me, specifically. I do have a strange ability to read emotions that are written in music, though I can only read a few... and yet, this music was conveying emotions that I specifically could understand.

It was unlike any song I have ever heard... It's overall emotion was, quite simply, "Death".
I'll describe it here chronologically:
The beginning was very strange. It sounded like a song that would be played in a horror movie involving self animated dolls. It was slow, creepy, and sounded like it was being played by a child. This part slightly deviated the very foundation of music, as it added intentionally missed notes to add the feeling of careless child's play.
The middle was also disturbing, as it was a direct mockery to myself and my friend.
This involves a bit of back-story.. I have been learning a song, "Pictures at an Exhibition 10 - The Great Gate of Kiev" for a long time, because that song represents death to me, which is an element I like in piano music.
My friend Takkun has been learning a song, "'Raindrop' Prelude" because to him, that song represents a deep depression.
Both of these songs were intertwined in the middle of 迷い.
I realized this immediately-- there was just a simple two-beat part of the song that mixed the two aforementioned songs. The first beat was the most tragic chord in Kiev, and the second beat was a tragic chord from Raindrop-- the two fit together perfectly as the first ended on A flat and the second started on A flat.
The next part of the song, and sorry if I get too music-theory-ish here, was a circusy-tragedy, implementing Minor seconds going up and down, conveying a sense of hopeless struggle/impending doom.
The end was the most disturbing by far, as this part completely defied every musical law. At this part, the music slowly deteriorated into what sounded like someone was dying while playing piano... the structure of the music fell apart, and the pianist simply started pushing random keys, on a decreasing tempo, until he/she just stopped playing entirely.
ANYway.
Exactly 30 minutes after we discovered the video, (give or take a few seconds) It was deleted. The scary part is that I was logged on when it was deleted, thus if anyone else had logged onto our account, I would have been logged off. A later test proved this.
I hypothesized that it may have been removed by an administrator, but upon trying to view the video again, it gave an error message that it was deleted by the user. This part I found quite interesting as I did not remove the video.
My hypothesis at this point, from a former webmaster's point of view, was that someone with access to the Youtube database had manually removed the video... however, this is obviously unlikely.
Ever since then, I have been eager to see this video again, so that I may analyze it musically and possible discover something I hadn't noticed before.
I have been becoming increasingly obsessed with 迷い since its removal, and have therefore sent several requests to youtube's technical support staff to have it restored.
If this video is ever restored I shall post a link in a future journal so you can all witness the disturbingness. Or if it is restored soon, I will append this journal with a link to it.
That is all, thanks for reading.

What a errie and fancinating account!
It reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe or other gothic passages from the
period just before industrialization and lights took the mystery away from the night.

I am sure you can find a rational reason for the sequence of events you have been seeing
on your Youtube account. The question is do you want to...LOL... :D

The intersection of the natural and supernatural....where is the line?

Lost
The images you discribe echo the same chord that the creators of the Blaire Witch Project struck.
We all have a primal fear of being lost, surrounded by the unknown.
We have lost our way, we no longer are at home in the forest, and it now seems evil and frightening.
The music also is interesting. Perhaps the originator was inspired by your images of piano playing and was
sending an audio-visual composition.

In any case, the unsolved mystery holds more than the sum of it's pieces.
Good luck with this one, but perhaps it should just remain unsolved....

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"
Indeed...
I was thinking it's like those old stories, just in a modern setting.
I have no idea why anyone would want to hack the account though, just to put up a weird video and remove it after we'd seen it...
I've never seen the Blaire Witch project... though after your comment it seems kinda interesting now.
The weird thing is that we don't have any videos of Takkun playing "Raindrop Prelude", so for someone to have intended this imagery, he would have had to hear him play it in person.
Once we have the video again, we should see some explaination. We only had 30 minutes to analyze it, and we were so scared that we forgot most of what we observed.

I know what you mean.
Facing the paranormal is a full on
Extra Sensory Experience.
All sorts of nerves start tingling
that you never thought you had before.
That is the way it is with ghosts.
You get that feeling and if your not
real calm, your nerves go
into a sensory system overload
roller coaster. Before you know it
your feet are motoring in the opposite
direction.
It pays to try to stay relaxed and clinical,
but it does not always happen.

To be honest, this was my first experience I could truly call "paranormal", so I nearly had a heart attack.
If I'd been more calm, I would have assessed the situation much better, probably downloaded the video, and analyzed it from there...

Hey I only had a few occassions where I would swear
years later it was not due to an overactive imagination,
too much partyng or both....heh,heh,
but a couple of time...cold sober...somethings just were a bit weird.
Maybe 4 or so times in a lifetime, so far.
Never quite the same thing. Weird events on road trips that
can never quite be pieced together again cause it was far from
home and years ago.
Ghost hunts that end up with everyone running out of an empty house,
terrified, but unable to explain just exactly why or what happened.

Strangers you meat in the middle of nowhere just at the right time to
change your luck or help in a critical way.

Strange stuff ,but no aliens landing or full body apperations sitting
in the living room with chains...LOL...
:D
