Literature Text

Plot(blow it up, completetly revise, add a lot of content, do somethin'!):

The setting is in a fantasy world based on feudal Japan. The main character suffers from a kind of PTSD (post-traumatic-stress-disorder) based on his previous battles, but he is forced back into war despite this and his efforts to hide from battle.
When seemingly harmless violence references are made, the character sees disturbing images from his past.
As more wounds are reopened and his past is stirred, these 'flashbacks' become increasingly greusome and lengthy. As the player slowly realizes what has happened to the main character, more mystery is brought up. It reaches a point at which the entire memory is shown, at which time it may become a sort of 'playable flashback'... possible a bit Fear-esque, but keeping a good sense of originality.
The main character became deeply disturbed during a war raid in which he was forced to kill innocents. (Needs more depth, lots and lots of revising!)

Character concepts(up for discussion):

Main character: Damaru ('Quiet', 'dark' in Japanese)
Demons: Objewasp? ~Bloodbell's idea. ><
Bosses:
Evil emperor:

Weapon Concepts(discuss):

The weapons are Katanas or based off of Katanas.

Combat system concepts(revise):

Tapping the attack button will increase or decrease the tension on the sword when in a double-block situation (dunno the real word for it). By increasing tension, you may break the enemy's guard, or one of the swords may break themselves. It will break into two peices, the Hilt and the Blade, which can be repaired by any sword repairman in town, by replacing the bolts.
If a slash is blocked by one's sword, two things may happen. One, you can get into the 'double-block' situation, or one of the swords may snap into two peices. This is much more expensive to repair, as the blade itself must be reforged.
The game will also use a contact-point system. When fighting any opponent, you can attack one of these contact points. If a leg is attacked, the enemy will limp on his other leg. If a head is attacked, the enemy will die, unless the sword was in 'reverse-blade' mode, flipped the other way so the enemy is hit with the dull side of the blade (Ah. that sounds so Kenshin, but it's not! Believe me). In this situation, the enemy would be knocked out or dazed... or extremely distracted. XD
Some of the demons will have blades for arms. When attacking one of these creatures, the double-block can occur, but the blade arm itself may be cut off.

In-game concepts(discuss):

The world of the game would be hilly, lush towns, small clear lakes (the game engine we'll be using has an awesome realistic water ripple effect), dense impassible forests, well-worn dirt/stone trails, beautiful waterfalls, and vast oceans. The character will wander between towns on quests from townspeople. (Discuss! Why would townspeople send him on quests to kill demons?? xD)

Opening scene concept(up for discussion):
After leaving the military, the main character goes back to his home town... where he is famous/infamous among the residents. He recognizes the town as he left it... when all of a sudden a gang of cultists comes into the town. They have started an outrageous taxing standard and residents are scared to leave home, because this gang also occasionally abducts innocents to sacrifice. The player, at this point, does not know what is happening to the abductees.
It is raining and all doors and windows are shut. The main character is walking to the bar, which is run by his close friend, who may have even had a love interest at one point with him. The culist gang leader and two 'henchmen?' looking guys, stereotypically significantly different in height and weight, walk into the bar. This is the main character's first confrontation with the gang.
The gang leader slams his fist into the countertop, demanding his taxes be paid immediately. The bar owner becomes more and more tense, backing into a corner before finally he grabs her. We can put something awesome in here like the gang leader getting impaled by the main character's sword, but I really want to keep him alive a bit longer. >:D
Maybe the main character knocks him out with a swift slap on the head with his sheath/back of his sword.
Anyway, there is violence, and Damaru feels sad about it, blahdee blah, maybe he does a quick prayer/ritual thing, but you know.
The 'henchmen?' run out of the bar towards the gang hideout as the main character chases after them.
He finally arrives at the hideout to justify the town. He enters, and immediately, gang members stop whatever they were doing and look at him before one of them shouts out "That's him!" This may be the first playable scene in the game.
There is a lot of carnage, and after they have all been killed or knocked out, ran out, or surrendered; he finds foot hits something. He looks down and sees a hatch in the floor. Opening it curiously, he goes down a ladder and arrives in a catacomb. No one seems to be down there so he investigates. Hearing a small voice, he looks to the side and sees a demon/half demon in a jail cell, miserable and shaking. I have no idea how we'll do the voice acting for this scene but we'll work something out. xD
They start a conversation and he finds out that there is a cruel group of sorcerers using them as slaves and sacrifices through which these men gain more power. The main character is very surprised and looks down a never ending hallway of these cells, each with a paw, claw, wing, fin, or other inhuman appendage jutting through the bars.
Well, this is the storyline for the game so far.

If you started reading this from the front page and have no idea what it is, well, I'm starting a development team to create a game. Anyone can volunteer; if you want any more info, click here: [link]

For those who are on the dev. team, this is what we have so far. If anyone wants to revise it, you can do so, but really, the producers list is stretching a bit already. Two or three people can volunteer to help with this much if you haven't already.

To submit a revision, copy and paste the storyline into notepad, change it, then copy the revised version and paste it into a note to me or one of the other producers.

NOTE:
This is not completely my work. This is the result of a collaboration between ~JDWRudy25, ~Featherless-Biped, ~lord-shaitan, and ~VeggieB0i.

Update:

I've created a chatroom for the dev team. If you want to join, you can try there also. Or, you can go there to help with the storyline, or just to talk!
It's here: [link]

Okay, how about his flashbacks are a bit worse than what the events once were, giving them a horroreque feel. As he moves on these kinds of delusions begin to take place on the battlefield and his sense of reality becomes confused as does the players. As he fights on the field he fights his inner demons until the climax where the truth is finally revealed and he must, reluctantly, come to terms with it. (I have yet to read the intro...I get back to you on that.)
